The rate
components used in calculating your bill are changing
effective October 22, 2011. The Natural Gas charge is
decreasing.
The net effect of this change is
an overall increase of 0.9%. The average residential
customer will see an decrease of about $0.94 per month.
The decrease in the Natural Gas Charge reflects a decrease in the wholesale cost of natural gas.
Vermont Gas adjusts the natural gas charge portion of the rate quarterly, up or down, in response to changes in the cost of gas. This is our 12th rate reduction since August, 2007.
Natural gas remains very competitive with other forms of heating fuels, including propane, oil and electricity
(see Figure #1).
Following a regulatory review, the residential rate
components will be adjusted as follows:
